Oddity has been found roosting in a bat box in a woodland a few miles from the farm.
Licences: All bats (and where they roost) in the UK are legally protected, it is therefore illegal to disturb bats or destroy their roosts. Experienced Bat Workers & Ecologists can obtain a licence from Natural England which allows them to legally disturb bats to aid research and conservation.
Bat workers (with licences *) check these every month to gain information on bat box use, numbers of bats and what species is using the box.
Oddity has been found in one of these boxes with a few other male Brown Long-eared bats.
As Oddity was only born last year it is unlikely he has ever used these boxes in Spring before. He may however have have stopped off on route to the swarming roosts in autumn.
